AI search optimization: make your business easier to understand and cite
AI-generated answers have created new discovery surfaces, but there is no magic file or paragraph that guarantees a citation. The durable work is familiar: publish useful information, make it crawlable, identify the entity clearly and support claims with evidence.
Answer real buying questions directly
Collect questions from sales calls, support conversations, search queries and customer interviews. Build pages that answer one topic completely: who the service fits, how it works, limitations, inputs, pricing context, examples and next steps. Put a concise answer near the top, then provide the detail needed to verify it.
Make facts explicit and consistent
Use the same business name, service descriptions, locations and contact information across the website and reputable profiles. Maintain clear About, service, policy and author information. Ambiguous branding and conflicting facts make it harder for any system—or customer—to connect evidence to the correct organization.
Publish first-hand evidence
Original examples, measured outcomes, screenshots, methods, expert commentary and transparent limitations are more defensible than summaries of summaries. Explain how conclusions were reached. Update material when products, prices, rules or data change, and show the publication or modification date.
Use structure without overestimating it
Descriptive headings, short answer blocks, lists and tables can make a page easier to parse. Add valid structured data only when it matches visible content. Article, Organization, Product, Service, FAQ and LocalBusiness markup can clarify meaning, but markup cannot rescue thin or misleading content.
Keep content technically accessible
Important information should be available in server-delivered HTML, linked through sensible navigation and included in an accurate XML sitemap. Use canonical URLs, descriptive titles and stable internal links. Do not accidentally block the crawlers you intend to reach, while still applying reasonable controls against abusive scraping.
Build corroboration beyond your site
Earn accurate mentions from customers, partners, industry organizations, directories and publications that matter in your field. Quality and relevance matter more than volume. Consistent independent references help establish that the organization and its claims exist beyond its own marketing pages.
Measure visibility carefully
Track qualified organic traffic, assisted conversions, branded search, referral sources and citations you can observe. Run a small, repeatable set of representative prompts, but expect answers to vary by system, location and time. Avoid claiming success from one screenshot.
